Here’s a quick, fun and easy recipe that you can literally throw together whilst brewing your morning cuppa. You won’t look pretty during the process but your skin will love this honey and oat face scrub and will thank you afterwards. The aim here is to soothe sensitive skin, remove dead skin cells and use ingredients that can be found in the kitchen.
Soothe and cleanse with oats
Full of anti-inflammatory and antioxidants, oats are a great addition to any DIY face scrub for sensitive skin. They are full of moisturising goodness that will soothe troubled skin (try adding ground oats to a bath for a full body skin soothing soak).
Take 1 tablespoon of oats and whizz them up in a blender until you get a fine powder. If you haven’t got a blender a pestle and mortar will work just fine too.
Honey, a natural antiseptic
Add 1 teaspoon of raw honey to the oats for its moisturising properties. Try not to be tempted to eat too much of the scrub before applying. Believe me when you’re scrubbing this on your face it is irresistibly tasty. With honey being a natural antiseptic and a moisturiser this scrub is ideal for infected skin conditions such as acne.
For extra moisturisation you can add some glycerine into the scrub. It is a humectant so will prevent moisture being lost from the skin. Add 1 teaspoon to the blend.
Massage onto face
Gently massage the messy and gooey but ever so tasty scrub into cleansed skin. Avoid the eye area. Wash off using a warm clean flannel and pat dry with a clean towel.
